Batu Caves - we tried to take a photo with the colourful steps but there were too many monkeys stealing peoples belongings (phones included). However, the statue of Lord Murugan is equally impressive at 42.7 metres tall, making it the tallest in Malaysia. It’s also the third tallest statue of a Hindu deity in the world with the Garuda Wisnu Kencana in Indonesia (an impressive 183% taller) taking top spot. #tomrocksmaths #mathsontour #batucaves
Mid-run selfie with the Petronas towers in KL (yes it was very warm). They are 451.9 metres tall, with 88 storeys - so what is the average height of each floor? #tomrocksmaths #petronastowers #kualalumpur
Recognise this place? As well as being an incredible temple within the Angkor complex in Cambodia, it's also one of the most iconic locations used in the original Tomb Raider movie. In fact, Lara Croft is the 2nd most recognisable female video game character - so who is number 1? #tomrocksmaths #angkorwat #laracroft
This place is amazing. Angkor was the capital of the Khmer Empire and housed at least 0.1% of the worlds population during 1010-1220. The estimated global population at that time was around 300,000,000 - so how many people lived here? #tomrocksmaths #angkorwat #cambodia
Swipe to see my new friend up close. Incredible to see Orangutans in the wild at Semenggoh. The rehabilitation centre was established in 1979 but it took 17 years before any new ones were born. They have now managed to double the population to over 20 - let’s hope the trend continues! #tomrocksmaths #orangutan #borneo
Checking out the sights in Kuala Lumpur. As the largest city in Malaysia it has a population density of approximately 8000 people per square kilometre. If the total population is around 2 million, how big is the city? #tomrocksmaths #mathsontour #kualalumpur
