Yu Deng - 2026 Fields Medal - and Dennis Sullivan - 2022 Abel Prize @hlforum. Such a pleasure to not only be back in Heidelberg for the @hlforum, but also to be asked to host the Opening Ceremony to kick-off a week of learning with the greatest minds in Mathematics and Computer Science. The TRM Essay showcase continues with articles covering the optimal strategy for “Guess Who?”, the topologist’s morning routine, the problems featured in Good Will Hunting, and the connection between study hours and premature greying of your hair. Mathematical creativity at it’s best! Shoutout to everyone in Belfast for a hugely enjoyable day of problem solving in this, and many other, universes. Another group of excellent essays for you to enjoy as the 2026 TRM Essay Showcase nears its conclusion. Five more groups to go and then it will be time to announce the winners shortlist! Well, I guess that’s that then… That’s a wrap on Math50 - an introduction to the mathematics that will help kickstart your journey into computer science. Using only the six numbers given alongside the operations plus, minus, multiply and divide, can you make 903? Start the school year by learning about some fun applications of maths courtesy of the latest group of essays in the 2026 TRM Essay Showcase. Puzzle day 2026 with @cs50 and @meta live from @harvard. More maths essays for you to enjoy courtesy of group 23 in the 2026 TRM Essay Showcase. Join me in just under 3 weeks for the Intermediate Calculus course @oxlifelonglearning.
