Meet #1503. The coconut rhinoceros beetle is an invasive species that has spread from its native habitat of Guam to Hawai’i. Scientists are using the unique flapping sound of the beetles wings to hunt them down and remove them before they spread further to the West coast of the US and destroy California’s citrus crops.
