Why is Kotlin better than Java?

Kotlin was designed to replace Java, so why is it the superior programming language? Lead developer, Andrey Breslav – an ITMO University graduate and Computer Science researcher – explains how Kotlin is designed to deal with bugs by removing them entirely from the ecosystem, something that he says cannot be easily done with Java due to its age.
